Gumbo Night

Bev and Ruben hosted their 2nd Annual December Gumbo night tonight. This is a "tradition" that was started last year- and it was such a huge hit we couldn't wait to do it again. The cold and rainy weather was perfect for the hot seafood soup, but because it was so cold, we had to stay inside- meaning it was quite a full house! Bev & Ruben invitied us, Steve & Susan, Dena & Diego, Christine and her three kids (Tyler, Audrey, and baby Brooke), Ross & Cindy, and Laura, Michael & Gabe. The food was so absolutely delicious that we ate every bit of it. Dessert was no disappointment either. Susan made a terrific homemade cherry pie, Bev made bread pudding, and I tried out a new truffle recipe. Aside from eating the delicious gumbo, the best part was watching the kids run around and play inside the Tee-Pee! Luke was in awe of Tyler's piano playing skills, and climbed up on the piano bench to watch him play. They invented all sorts of crazy toddler games, and I still can't believe we sort of got them to sit still long enough to take a picture of them all together!
