Kristi's Wedding Reception

We had the best time at Kristi and Chris' Scottsdale wedding reception on Saturday. Luke slept the whole way there (...and back!) so he was in a good mood. It was at the Armenian Cultural Center and inside and air conditioned, too! It reminded me of my wedding, except for the indoors and air conditioned part. The bride and groom looked pretty relaxed and seemed to really be enjoying themselves, which doesn't always happen with the stress of being the center-o-attention. It truly was a joyous occasion and Kristi and Chris deserved it!

Since they got married in Cabo, they served Mexican food (like us!) and had a sort-of Mexican theme (like us!) Theirs was definitely beachy, though, which was so perfect! They had this really neat slideshow of them when they were kids and also of the wedding. I wish we had done that, it was so fun to see them both as kids. I loved all the details, too, which I'm not sure anyone notices but me. Their favors were margarita glasses with personalized ribbon and (i think) margarita or lime flavored jelly beans. They also had personalized Hershey Kisses (Just married!) and M&Ms (Chris & Kristi), Mexican wedding cake cookies. The cake had shells on it, too!

Kristi was so thoughtful. Luke had his own seat (hasn't happened yet, I think people think of him as an accessory- but he is such a person now!), which also means he had his own margarita wedding glass favor, which means Mama got three, hee hee. Luke had fun exploring and playing and dancing with his cousins. He made several trips to the drinking fountain, which he found fascinating. The DJ had these disco type lights that entranced all the little kids. He kept saying "Party", which sounded a lot like "Potty," another one of his new words, but we're pretty sure he meant party. Everytime I would ask him if he wanted to go dance, he would say "Ooooo-tay. " Here are the best of the pics I took. These are mostly of us, but if you would like to see more, just email me and I'll send you the Snapfish link.

My Pirate Name is...

My pirate name is:

Bloody Bess Cash

Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. You're musical, and you've got a certain style if not flair. You'll do just fine. Arr!

The heat is melting my brain

Is it always this hot in the summer? It seems hotter than usual... Luke and I have the summertime blues because we can't think of anything to do that doesn't involve going outside (or "outdise" as Luke puts it) or spending money. Help! Get us out of this scorching, sweltering, mind numbing sauna of a town! (hint hint phil)

Good Luck Linda!

Today, Phil's sis Linda moves to Henderson, NV, just outside of Las Vegas. She will begin Physician's Assistant School at Tuoro University this summer! We are so excited for her (and Liz!) and this new beginning. We also hope that they don't mind a few couch crashers sometime soon because I swear if I don't get out of town soon I'm going to go batty.

Who needs a pool?

Yes, I know I should have immediately yanked him out of Goose's water pail, but you have to admit, this is soooo cute. Plus, he's growing bigger every day, so it won't be long before funny antics like this are a thing of the past. Enjoy!

Jumping Castle Fun

We went to Pump It Up, an indoor jumping castle playground, with Meetup Moms. Phil came along, and THANK GOODNESS, because little Luke was a wildman. He wanted to go down the slides over and over again...

Can you spot Luke among the chaos?

Luke even went up the slide by himself today!

Trip to the Splashpark

Today Luke and I went to the Splashpark. Its basically a huge, fenced in piece of cool deck at a Tucson park with water squirting out everywhere. It comes up out of the ground, shoots out of tubes, and fills up buckets that tip over onto people. Its a lot of fun! And because it is free, Meetup Moms goes there often, so I really wanted Luke to like it.Last month when I brought him, he was completely overwhelmed by the loud noises (kids and water) and the splashing. I couldn't even put him down without tears. This time, we came prepared. My friend Angela told me to get him a pair of sunglasses, that they would keep the water out of his eyes. We also brought along Mr. Ribbit, his rubber green tree frog. You see, frogs are amphibians, so they get virtually all of their water through their skin, so it was Luke's responsibility to keep Mr. Ribbit wet! It worked! As you can see, Luke was much more open to the "splashpark experience." Yeah!

Quite the pair with our hats and sunglasses!

He wandered to the middle of the splashpark all by himself to play with the splash gun.

Loving the water gun
My future is so bright I have to wear shades!

Here's some water, Mr. Ribbit!

Catching water

Oh wow. He looks so old in this pic! Definitely not a baby anymore!

Kristi's Bridal Shower

Luke and I had fun at Kristi's Bridal Shower today. Many of the Villarreal clan were there to help her celebrate her marriage to Chris. The hostess' house was reallllly nice, but unfortunately, completely un baby-proofed (why would it be.. her kids are long grown!) Luke especially loved the water fountain in the foyer, and the two little dogs that lived there. Congrats Kristi!
